In 2005, Hurricane Katrina destroyed one of the nation’s most beloved jewels and uprooted my family’s life. Now, over 13 years later, the city of New Orleans has bounced back to be known as one of the liveliest places in the United States. Not only is this the birthplace of jazz, but it is one of the most culturally rich cities on the planet. This weekend, my family and I took a trip down south to visit grandparents and cousins, eat plenty of crab and crawfish and take in all that the Crescent City has to offer. During this visit, I wanted to capture the very essence of the city through the local artists who performed in the French Quarter. Full of art, music and unmatchable charm, I still consider New Orleans to be my home.
